Joseph E. Davis

Joseph E. Davis is research professor of sociology at the University of Virginia and the director of the Picturing the Human project at the university’s Institute for Advanced Studies in Culture. He is the author of Chemically Imbalanced: Everyday Suffering, Medication, and Our Troubled Quest for Self-Mastery (Chicago, 2020) and the co-editor with Paul Scherz of The Evening of Life: The Challenges of Aging and Dying Well (Notre Dame, 2020).
