Harry Collins is distinguished research professor at Cardiff University in Wales. He is an elected Fellow of the British Academy and the 1997 recipient of the Bernal Prize for social studies of science. He has written numerous books on such topics as the sociology of scientific knowledge, artificial intelligence, the nature of expertise, tacit knowledge, technology in sport, and the detection of gravitational waves.
