The New Atlantis considers submissions of all lengths. While there are no requirements, many feature essays run between 3,500 and 10,000 words; book reviews between 2,500 and 6,000 words; and shorter essays, commenting on time-sensitive subjects, between 1,500 and 2,500 words.
Though we accept reviews of books already published, we prefer pitches for books with upcoming release dates. Book publishers typically release catalogs of upcoming releases on their websites.
Submissions and pitches are reviewed on a rolling basis. Author fees are determined on a case-by-case basis, usually at the time a pitch or submission is accepted. If any portion of your submission has previously appeared in print, as a lecture, or in any other public form, please let us know.
Authors wishing to submit an article should send it attached by email to Samuel Matlack, Managing Editor, at submissions ⟮аt ѕіgn⟯ thenewatlantis ⟮dоt⟯ com. If you have an idea for an essay, review, or article, please feel free to pitch it to us by contacting Mr. Matlack.
